Welcome To My Practice
For over twenty years I have been helping people heal from the impact of early childhood trauma and challenging life events so they can make choices from a more grounded sense of self.  I believe in the resilience of every human being and work from a strengths-based perspective.  I also prioritize relationship in my treatment approach and whether you work with me individually, as a couple, or in a group, we will center the relationship experience as a tool for learning.  Like riding a bike, as new skills start to form, conscious, self-affirming choices become possible and your life will start to get better.

I am an experienced psychotherapist (LICSW) and Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) working with individuals, couples and groups.  I hold a PhD in biochemistry, which informs my work by integrating current research in neurobiology into my treatment approach.   I am trained in a variety of modalities that we will use in the service of reaching your goals, including cognitive, behavioral, emotional, relational, or most likely a combination.  I am also trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), an emotionally focused therapy heavily informed by neurobiology and how we heal relationally as social beings.  For more about AEDP go to www.AEDPInstitute.org.

My approach is LGBTQAI+ welcoming and multiculturally informed.

Group Therapy
I bring over 20 years of experience as a group therapist and educator, with a deep commitment to training and mentoring other clinicians in group psychotherapy.  I currently co-lead the Observation Groups (OG1) at The Brookline Center for Community Health, a live teaching group designed to help therapists develop advanced group skills through direct experience. I also lead the annual Experiential Group for the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy (NSGP), offering therapists the opportunity to learn by participating in a professionally facilitated group process.

I am a past board member of NSGP and currently serve on the organization’s Practice Development Committee. Through NSGP, I have been a faculty member for the Core Principles Course and have presented workshops and trainings on a range of group psychotherapy topics. In addition, I serve as an educator at the national meeting of the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), contributing to the ongoing development of best practices in group psychotherapy.

Trainings, Workshops and Retreats
Over the years, I have designed and led a range of trainings, workshops, and retreats that integrate clinical expertise with practical, accessible tools for growth.  My areas of focus include women’s issues, self-care, mindfulness, meditation, assertiveness, motivation, anger management, and trauma-informed practice. I have presented for Chambers of Commerce, women’s organizations, and professional groups including women in science, tailoring each offering to the unique needs of the audience. In addition, I serve as a faculty member and presenter for the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) and the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy (NSGP). Please see Events or contact me to discuss future training, workshop, or event planning opportunities.

Working with Scientists
My background in biotechnology—first in academic research and later in patent law—gives me firsthand experience with the pressures and demands of these environments. This uniquely positions me to explain and apply psychotherapy in ways that resonate with scientists. I also provide consultation to support scientists navigating interpersonal challenges and career transitions in both academic and professional settings. Drawing on my expertise in group psychotherapy, I help individuals more effectively manage laboratory dynamics and workplace relationships, fostering a more successful and satisfying work environment.
